So-Young Kim, PhD

Scientist I

Dr. Kim is a glycoscientist with an expertise in glycan-based/targeting therapeutic development. During her PhD training at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Dr. Kim identified glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) as cellular receptors for Zika virus host cell entry (and more recently SARS-CoV-2) and a potential therapeutic target. During her postdoctoral training at Glycobiology Research and Training Center (UC San Diego), Dr. Kim found that genetic alteration of heparan sulfate GAG chains on antigen presenting cells augments immune function in tumor microenvironments. Additionally, Dr. Kim has prior experience in technology transfer from General Electric Licensing.
